To access NSLDS over the Internet, you must have a browser that is on the supported list. Additionally, that browser must be capable of encrypting transmissions between your computer and NSLDS. To do this the browser uses a form of encryption called Secure Socket Layer (SSL). Current browsers will support 40-bit, 56-bit and 128-bit encryption (128-bit being the most secure). NSLDS will operate with any of these encryption levels.
